Jessica Simpson = Madonna wannabe?

Have you heard Jessica Simpson's new single, "A Public Affair"? After listening to it the first time, the inyourFACE Editors dismissed it as Jessica's sad attempt to be either Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue or (gasps) Paris Hilton. Much to my dismay, the evil KIIS 102.7 in Los Angeles has taken to playing the song everytime I get in the car and now I can't get enough of it.

What is the cause of this newly found catchiness? Perhaps it is because it is almost IDENTICAL to Madonna's song "Holiday." Try it for yourself, it seems like you can sing the lyrics to "Holiday" to the same melody of "A Public Affair."

One Google search later...TMZ also calls Jessica out on this "eerily similar" sound. Jessica's people say that it is not a copy of her song, but just a "fun summer single." Madonna's people have yet to comment. I smell trouble brewing and I hope that it turns in a huge legal battle!

So if you find yourself liking the song (but want to remain anti-Jessica), don't feel so bad because you're just enjoying the sounds of pre-Kabbalah Madonna.
