ALCS GAME 5: Red Sox 8-7, Rays lead 3-2

boston red socks Pictures, Images and Photos

Red Sox
made a comeback last night being down 0-7. The Rays had one more game to win and looked as if they had already won it since the Red Sox had no runs in 6 innings. The Red Sox pulled off what the Dodgers tried to do against the Phillies on Wednesday night. Their lucky number must be 7 because in the 7th inning the Red Sox retaliated with 4 runs, scored 3 in the 8th tying up the game 7-7. The Rays tried to get a run in the 9th but the Red Sox were not having that, instead they scored in the 9th to end the game with a win, 8-7. "The second-biggest comeback in post-season history..."

NLCS GAME 5: PHILLIES NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

Phillies Pictures, Images and Photos
The Dodgers v. Phillies game was a good one. A good one for the Phillies and a bad one for the Dodgers. The Phillies were playing at another level last night. They scored in the 1st inning setting the tone for the rest of the game. Billingsley couldn't cut it last night and was taken out of the game after pitching 2 3/4 innings. The Dodgers had 7 different pitchers go out to the mound but the damage of 5 runs was already done and there was no going back. The Dodgers did manage to score 1 run thanks to Manny's solo homer. That was the HIGHLIGHT of the Dodgers, which brought hope that there will be a comeback but unfortunately it did not happen. They did have opportunities to score, sorry to say but DeWitt did cost them some, handing the Phillies 2 double plays both times he went up to the plate. Furcal also made some errors last night that cost the Dodgers the game, however this game is a team effort and as a team they could not deliver against the Phillies defense. Cole Hamels pitched for 7 innings, showcasing his athletic ability and talent. Shane Victorino was on fire in the outfield last night, catching everything the Dodgers hit at him and did not let anything pass him even if it meant running into the wall. The game ended with Loney on 2nd base and Garciaparra at bat hitting a pop up behind the plate and Ruiz catching it for the last out in the game. The Phillies won the NLCS and move onto the WORLD SERIES. The game was devastating for Dodgers fans and even the Dodgers themselves. They were emotional after the game and Casey Blake was holding back the tears as he was being interviewed. But you do have to hand it to the Phillies, they played very well and very hard.

NLCS Game 4: Phillies lead 3-1

The Phillies started on a high note in the 1st inning scoring 2 runs on Lowe. Lowe was frustrated after the check swing from Rollins was called a ball. That cost the Dodgers the lead off in the game. James Loney hit a double managing to get an RBI from it in the 1st inning. The Dodgers seemed in good spirit once they had the lead over the Phillies 5-3. Everything seemed great until the Phillies caught up with a homerun by Stairs and got the lead with another homerun by Victorino. The final score Phillies 7, Dodgers 5. Torre switched pitchers from Lowe to Kuo to Kershaw to Wade to Broxton but it didn't cut it. The Dodgers could not make a comeback. Lowe shouldn't have been taken out in the first place, Torre should of waited on that call. And the Phillies walking Manny was a total cheapshot. If you are going to play the game, play it right!

Phillies win 7-5

Celeb Sighting: Aundrea Fimbres

Aundrea Fimbres from Danity Kane was spotted by my sister at Nordstrom at the Montclair Plaza in Montclair, Ca. My sister was nervous and scared to talk to her and I had to knock some sense into her on the phone until she had the guts to talk to her. My sister said that she just asked if she was Aundrea from Danity Kane as she was walking away from the MAC counter, where she bought “a lot of make-up.” She said Aundrea said “yeah, I am from Danity Kane” and kept walking and headed into H&M with her friend. My sister did not have a camera at hand and her phone is old school so no camera phone. I was about to get my butt out of my comfy chair to go see her but I was watching crucial Game 2 of the NLCS. I might run into Aundrea someday since she lives close to my hometown.

MLB PLAYOFFS: NLCS GAME 2: PHILLES LEAD 2-0

The Phillies made 4 runs in the 2nd inning, making the score 4-1. Loney retaliated with an RBI in the 3rd bringing DeWitt home. Chad Billingsley (Dodgers) continued to struggle with his pitching and was taken out of the game after 6 runs and 59 pitches. The Phillies made 2 more runs in the 3rd inning making the total 8-2. Chad is one of the best pitchers on the Dodgers team and it was a disappointment of how he delivered on today’s game against the Phillies. It could have been nerves, it could have been anything that was affecting his pitching but the thing is the Phillies wanted to hit anything that was thrown at them to get the lead in the game and that is what they did. Manny brought the Dodgers back into the game with a 3-run homerun in the 4th inning, bringing the total to 5-8. McDonald (Dodgers) pitched from the 4th to the 6th.

Phillies pitcher Myers pitched a great game until here were 2 on base and Manny hit a 3-run homer, bringing the Dodgers up to speed. Romero also pitched helping the Phillies keep their score.

At the top of the 7th with 2 outs Madson comes up to pitch as Nomar Garciaparra came up to bat. Garciaparra gets one into the right field and gets to 1st as Kemp makes his way to 3rd. Casey Blake had the opportunity to tie up the score, and hit it back and Victorino (4 RBI) was there to catch what looked to be a 3- run homerun.

Clayton Kershaw was brought in to pitch the 7th and finish the game, Garciaparra stays in the game as they take Casey Blake out for 3rd base. James McDonald pitched a great game with no runs.

9th inning started with a Manny walk. Lidge struck out Ethier. The Phillies crowd went wild after that struck out and continued with Loney up at the plate. But quiet downed as Loney was walked. Manny at 2nd and Loney at 1st with Kemp up at the plate. The Dodgers have an opportunity to tie it up with 1 out. Kemp was struck out and the crowd went wild. Garciaparra swung at balls and was struck out. The Dodgers couldn’t tie it up even with opportunities in the 7th and the 9th. Lidge saved the game with his pitches.

Philles win 8-5

Magic Charlie Manuel’s (Phillies Manager) mother June had passed away this morning at the age of 87. He still came out to manage his team. Our condolences Charlie.

Sandy Koufax (former Dodger) attended the game to support the Dodgers.

MLB PLAYOFFS NLCS GAME 1

Game 1: Dodgers v. Phillies: Phillies lead
phillies vs. dodgers Pictures, Images and Photos

Joe Torre went with the NLDS starting lineup. Jeff Kent, Nomar Garciaparra were benched. Derek Lowe was the starting pitcher and Rafael Furcal started the batting order. Manny started out the game bringing Andre Ethier home in the 1st inning. Blake DeWitt had a sacrifice flyball to bring Matt Kemp home in the 4th inning. Derek Lowe did not allow one run, however he did allow some hits but that is understandable as long as the team works as a team to get their outs and their runs, it is all good in the barrio.
The Phillies started Cole Hamels as their pitcher. A left handed pitcher is always a good pitcher. The Dodgers did struggle with Hamels fastballs and change-ups. He even struck out Manny Ramirez the second appearance on the plate.
The Phillies started with a comeback in the bottom of the 5th, runners on 1st and 2nd, Rollins up to bat when Lowe decided to call in Martin and change the signs. Lowe struggled with Rollins at 3-2 when he hit a flyball and Ramirez caught it. The Phillies caught up with the Dodgers with a 2-run homer by Chase Utley, followed by another homerun by Pat Burrell leading them 3-2 in the 6th. Furcal’s error cost the Dodgers the runs. Joe Torre took Lowe out after the 3rd run and put Park in to finish the 6th. Derek Lowe threw 90 pitches, 55 of them were strikes. Maddux pitched the 7th inning.
Pitcher Ryan Madson (Phillies) pitched the 8th inning. Kuo (Dodgers) pitched the 8th. The crowd in Citizen’s Bank Stadium was on their feet for the last inning. Yelling, waving their flags and cheering as Lidge pitched strikes. Lidge ended the game. Phillies win 3-2.

Bleeding Love

You probably could not listen to a radio station without hearing Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" this summer. What many of you may not know is that the song was co-written by Jesse McCartney. That's right, the singer of "Leavin'" co-wrote the song with Ryan Tedder of One Republic (He sang "Apologize," which was remixed and made popular by Timbaland.).

Here's Jesse McCartney's version of the "Bleeding Love":

Another pop connection you may not have known is that "Leavin'" was written and produced by The-Dream, who is known for singing the songs "Shawty Is a 10" and "I Luv Your Girl." Interestingly, The-Dream has writing and producing credits for a lot of the popular songs that have come out recently. He was even nominated for a Grammy for his work on "Umbrella" by Rihanna.

Same Movies, Different Names?

The upcoming movie releases have me excited with their seemingly fresh and original plots. However, some movies make me wonder if I'm watching the same movie with a different title.

The first example is Lakeview Terrace, which stars Samuel Jackson and Patrick Wilson as warring neighbors in the suburbs. Jackson plays an LAPD cop who dislikes his new neighbor because he has an interracial marriage. The war escalates and increases in violence and danger, much like in Jackson's other movie, Changing Lanes. In Changing Lanes, Jackson's character wars with yet another white character (played by Ben Affleck) and also covers the topics of racial tension and prejudice. Sure, there are plot differences, but I can't help but labeling Lakeview Terrace as Changing Lanes without the cars.

I had the same reaction today after watching a commercial for Jim Carrey's new film, Yes Man. In the movie, Carrey's character is known for always saying "No," but starts to say "Yes" to everything after getting hit on the head with a microphone by a guru-looking fellow. Now, this sounds a lot like Liar Liar, the film in which Carrey's character can only tell the truth after being known as a notorious liar.

Having not seen either Lakeview Terrace or Yes Man, I cannot speak definitively about their similarity to the other films I discussed. However, I can tell you that my hunch is enough to turn me away from helping those movies at the box office.

Dodgers advance to the NLCS

Dodgers won Game 3 against the Cubs (3-1). The game was very interesting because the Cubs were trying to fight for Game 3. The curse of the Cubs has not been lifted. The Dodgers will face the Phillies in the NLCS. Which I had been secretly hoping for! =) It is going to be goooooooooooooood! In ALDS news, the Red Sox are leading with 2 games over the Angels, and the Rays are 2-0 vs the White Sox.

Dodgers win Game 1 vs. Cubs

James Loney Grandslam

The Dodgers were down by 2 in the 5th inning until James Loney stepped up to the plate with bases loaded. Loney delivered on a 1-2 pitch with a GRANDSLAM taking the lead right out of the palms of the Cubs making the score 4-2. Cubs fans were in shock of what they had witnessed and responded in silence. However, the Dodgers in the dugout went crazy jumping with joy. The players greeted Loney with smiles and high fives. Ramirez also added to the total with a homerun, Casey Blake followed with an RBI bringing DeWitt home and Martin ended it with a homer in the 9th inning bringing the total to 7-2 Dodgers.
