US OPEN CONTINUES

Monday

Andre “the legend” Agassi won his opening match Monday night. It was a home stretcher, 6-7, 7-6, 7-6, 6-2 vs. Andrei Pavel. At some points during the match I was scared that he was going to lose because it was so close throughout each set. I thought it was anyone’s game. But Agassi always seems to prove his capabilities at his tender age of 36. He won those last 3 sets to continue on the journey of what could be his Last Grand Slam.
Mardy Fish can be said to be the “underdog.” Ranked at #60 he has come to call some attention winning his opening match yesterday afternoon and making history by calling the first player challenge in Grand Slam history. There’s one for the books! GO FISH!!!

Andy Roddick,Xavier Malisse, Feliciano Lopez, Paradorn Srichaphan, Lindsay Davenport, Justine Henin-hardenne, Elena Dementieva also won.

WEDNESDAY

K.Pless 3 6 3
A.Roddick 6 7 6
Andy Roddick's match was good, he had some good play at the net,his serves were unstoppable but Pless put up a fight in the 2nd set and Andy seemed to get frustrated but that is just what the birthday boy does on court. Save that drama for yo mama Roddick! His victory was a great 24th birthday present. Happy Birthday "el rayo" as I have come to nickname him...hehehe

M.Sharapova 6 6
M.Krajicek 3 0
Sharapova seems to be in the zone with her powerful serves, powerful forehand, and powerful grunts. This girl showed all the critics that she is more than just a pretty face!!! Keep on truckin!

L.Dominguez Lino 1 2
S.Williams 6 6
Serena Williams, well what can I say. I am glad she is back in action! She dominated today and showed Sominguez Lino that she is no match for the Queen Bee...go get the Championship Serena...tennis is in your blood!

Roger Federer SUI (1)Winner 6 6 6
Yeu-Tzuoo Wang TPE 4 1 0
Federer, what can you say that hasn't been already said? nothing...he is the greatest thing that has happened to tennis since Sampras and Agassi and all those other legends. The rankings have actually gone up for tennis since players like Federer, Roddick, Blake, Safin, and Nadal have made appearances to tournaments. This is the man to beat. Federer has an unbreakable strategy, and unbreakable mentality of the game...he just gets the ball and puts it where he wants it and that is IN YOUR FACE!
Federer is going to be here for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG TIME...

Mark Philippoussis AUS 4 4 4
Rafael Nadal ESP (2)Winner 6 6 6
Nadal the amazing youngster who is beating all, well almost all, last year James Blake ended his run in the US OPEN, Nadal is here this year to see if he can take the Grand Slam home. This Spaniard has the heart of the game, him and Federer have a classic rivalry. When I look at them two and they play against eachother its as if it is brother vs. brother. Nadal has his guns, motivation to be the best, the passion the heart, and the forehands and serves. He wants it all, but there is one problem...Federer. Though Nadal says they get along great I know he strives for the number 1 in the world title...it will come sooner or later but Federer aint giving it up without a fight.

Juan Monaco ARG 3 5 6(7)
James Blake USA (5)Winner 6 7 7(9)
James, James, James, never ceases to impress. He can do it all he got the smarts, the beauty, the bod, the charm, the smile, the eyes, the oops! tennis thats right, he got the power and passion for the game. Blake keeps up the fighting and truly believes he is number 1 he can win it all...he can be our US Open 2006 Champion, because he truly does want it. Good Luck!

Robby Ginepri USA (18) Winner 3 6 6 6
Julien Benneteau FRA 6 4 4 4
Robby has come a long way and wants to prove that he can do this and wants to win his Grand Slam. He has improved and has gotten far seeded at number 18 he has improved in the charts and his game. Keep up the good fight!

Fernando Gonzalez CHI (10)Winner 6 6 6
Jiri Vanek CZE 2 3 2
"CHI! CHI! CHI! LE! LE! LE! VIVA CHILE!" You can hear the fans all over the world screaming that for Fernando Gonzalez, whom has shown that he truly is a top winner!

Alex Kuznetsov US 2 4 0
Tommy Haas GER (14)Winner 6 6 6
Tommy Haas is more than just the "handsome model" of the tennis world; he is also a great player...he won the Countrywide Classic this year and things are looking good for him, he has improved his game strategy and always manages to keep cool...

US OPEN TENNIS

The US OPEN starts today with big names like Andre Agassi whom will retire after this tournament, Andre is calling it a good run. Agassi just like his rival Sampras is going to say goodbye to the professional sport on the grounds of the ARTHUR ASHE STADIUM in NEW YORK. This will be your last time to see this man in action…We got to see this man in action at the Countrywide Classic in Los Angeles, Cali and it was great. This man has a lot of heart for the game and after all these years he is still passionate for it. He is really sweet and kind staying and signing as many autographs as he could while his coach and coordinators of the tournament told him they had to leave he still took his time to get to his fans. Agassi always believed that the game was about the fans and he truly does love his fans. Agassi is one of the greats leaving the game but he will still continue with his foundations, college prep in Las Vegas and helping out the community. His 20 YEARS of Punishment are coming to an end. Maybe he will come back and play WTT like Sampras.

All the tennis pros will be expected at the US OPEN big names like James Blake, whom I personally think can take the championship from Federer. Rafael Nadal, great game, he is fit physically and mentally and he is ready for anything. Roger Federer, is always in his own world and you see no emotion on the court and that is the way he has been able to be #1 in the world, he has an A game and he is the barrier to all those tennis pros wanting to get on top. He is unbelievable, the tennis phenomenon. Andy Roddick the All-American or so they say. He has been struggling ever since his 2003 US Open win. Everything went downhill for his game. He got 2 new coaches since then and he still hasn’t been able to come up the charts dropping to number 11 in the ATP race. It is the first time since he started playing pro that Andy has dropped out of the top 10. Hopefully he will bring his mojo and A game to the US Open and fight for what he wants and put the critics in their place…GOODLUCK…seems to me that Hollywood got to him. Others you should look for are Mardy Fish, has a great game and a true passion a little more fire and he will get far…Robby Ginepri, Fernando Gonzalez, Tommy Haas, Tommy Robredo

All the women tennis pros at the US OPEN: The returning champ Kim Clijsters has a major defense game, she slides to get those balls and she is a monster on the court, she is unstoppable trying to get every point, this greediness is good to some point. She just cannot let her emotions get the best of her. Amelie Mauresmo is a strong tennis player who attacks at the net…if she continues this strategy with her strong serves she might take the title home. Venus Williams whom is considered the underdog has a powerful game and the confidence to take it all. She gets on court and believes she is the best player and that has gotten her far in her career if she truly wants it she can truly get it, just step it up and its yours. Maria Sharapova the princess of tennis as so she has come to be labeled, if she doesn’t let all the advertising around Flushing meadows get the best of her she can bring a strong game with her strong serve [TENNIS magazine] and vocal chords. Lindsay Davenport has the passion and the charisma of the game but her main enemy is herself and her mentality she must pass on the mental issues of not getting the point and look forward to the next one.

Predictions and more info about the US OPEN will be posted daily. Enjoy the game of tennis where “Love means nothing…”

MOVIE REVIEWS: Step Up, How to Eat Fried Worms, INVINCIBLE, Accepted

We went to go see STEP UP the friday it released and we woke up early in the morning to get the first showing. I really loved the message sent across through the movie...to follow your dreams...I know it is cliche but it is true...we shouldn't make excuses to not follow them and we shouldn't be stopped by fear. I know it is easier said than done but if you truly want something you have to fight for it and that is basically the message sent to us the audience. The Dancing was AWESOME! To tell you the truth the whole movie all together was great there is a lot of DANCING and there is also SINGING and the ACTING was decent....I was not bored at any moment and I just wanted to get up and dance in the aisle...literally...I was dancing in my seat...GO SEE IT!!! IN YOUR FACE APPROVES...2 WINKS on the same eye!

HOW TO EAT FRIED WORMS
Judging by the title it is going to be about eating worms in different ways...worms that are fried, worms that are boiled, worms that are microwaved....you get my point. If you have a weak stomache like someone I know do not see this movie. This movie had lots of laughs and it is a great movie for elementary children...I took my lil sis and she liked it a lot and then she asked If you read the book as a kid then this movie will bring back memories. This movie was somewhat gross at some points...I mean come on look at theme if I had ever eaten a worm and of course I can't remember if I ever had...hahaha...jk....the only ones I have eaten are the gummy ones...IN YOUR FACE GIVES IT 1 Wink!

INVINCIBLE

This movie is for any Football fan, any Mark Wahlberg fan, ANYONE....this movie gets 2 Winks plus a smile from cheek to cheek and a tear....this movie was truly GREAT this is a movie the must be seen. It touched our hearts and it was very amazing to the point where everyone in their life has to choose between chasing the dream or settle for a job to make ends meat...and I bet Mark got lots of bruises doing this movie. Greg Kinnear did a great job as the coach, Elizabeth Banks portrayed a Giants fan whom later fell in love with the Eagles. Their were a lot of great actors in this movie and the best supporting actor award goes to the best friend, Kirk Acevedo, he believed in Vince Papale and pushed him to follow his dream...

ACCEPTED: 1 Wink and a Smile from cheek to cheek
This movie is acceptable. Justin Long had a great performance as a rejected college student just trying to please his parents by creating a fake college. I am a college student and I bet that every college student has felt this way in their life: they want to study everything but sometimes you cannot take some classes do to your major, for instance I am declared psych major but I wanted to take a film studies class but it is only open to film study majors. I did manage to take the intro to cinema class which is open to everyone but I wanted to take another film class to see if I much rather be a film major but I couldn’t because I had to be declared. I also wanted to take photography but I cannot because I am not a photography major which sucks. This movie hit home with those problems, they tell us what to learn they limit our capabilities and our creativeness to classes that we must take and if we take more units than we are suppose too that is not allowed. College is hard and it does cause a lot of stress and I really liked the view of this movie. Why can’t we just learn what we want? So I end this with “What do you want to learn?”

Favorite Lines

SHE'S THE MAN
Duke Orsino: Do you like cheese?

Use this line if you ever need a conversation starter. It drives the chicks wild.

Duke Orsino: What're you gonna do, drown me in your tears?

This is helpful when standing up to your rival soccer player.

THE FOG
Elizabeth Williams: I lost the tape.
Nick Castle: When you were drowning in the seaweed?

A classic line from a terrible movie.

Stockard Channing Tatum O'Neal He's Gorgeous!

Channing Tatum was most notably seen playing Duke Orsino in SHE'S THE MAN. He leaves soccer and cross dressing (Amanda Bynes' character, not his) behind for the wonderful world of dance in STEP UP.Sure you think, "Is this SAVE THE LAST DANCE or TAKE THE LEAD all over again?" If that's the truth, what's so wrong about teenage angst, dancing, and a little love? I just hope it's better than YOU GOT SERVED.If this movie does well, we'll probably see a lot more movie companies using Myspace heavily to promote their films. (The movie only has its Mypsace page as the official site.)

The movie also stars Jenna Dewan (his girlfriend) and opens this Friday, August 11th.

Life After Gilmore Girls

Amy Sherman Palladino, creator and former executive producer of GILMORE GIRLS, has plans for a new show to air on Fox. She will write, executive produce and perhaps direct the pilot for this 30 minute show. Variety reports that the show is a "dramedy that will revolve around two estranged sisters who reunite after one of them agrees to carry the other's baby."

Michael Ausiello of TVGuide speculates that Sherilyn Finn (Anna, April's Mom) will be cast as a lead.

Brokeback Batman

Heath Ledger (BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN) will play The Joker in the next Batman movie. The other rumored Jokers were Steve Carrell, Sean Penn, Robin Williams and Jude Law. I'm not sure how Heath Ledger will look in the makeup, but Heath is definitely a sexier upgrade from Jack Nicholson who played The Joker in BATMAN. Let's not forget that Heath can dance and sing, hopefully they let those talents go to use.

The sequel is titled THE DARK NIGHT and will have Christopher Nolan (MEMENTO) directing again. Also back to reprise his role is Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne.

IMBD also reports that Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman will also appear. Noticeably absent is Katie Holmes who played Bruce Wayne's childhood friend, Rachel Dawes.
